QuickProfileLoader is a small program to load the graphics card LUT from the VCGT tag of the ICC monitor profile.

Display calibration and gamma correction, as it's done by QucikGamma, utilize the correction curves that have been stored in the VCGT tag of the ICC profile VCGT tag. Each monitor can have its own ICC profile.

The monitor profile contains a VCGT tag with 256 correction values in the range of 0 to 65535, 0x0000 to 0xFFFF in hexadecimal notation).

Windows has a built-in loader program since Windows 7, which loads the LUT of the graphics card with data from the VCGT tag. Unfortunately, this loader has a deficiency, which does not stand out so much on monitors with 8 bit input signal, but poses a big problem on monitors with 10 or more bits input signal. The reason for this is that Windows truncates the correction values by setting the lower 8 bits to zero. This causes "banding" especially on monitors with more than 8 bits input signal. For such monitors, it is essential to load the LUT with the full correction values from the VCGT tag.

Even for monitors with 8 bit input signal, it would be better to use rounding instead of truncating. The difference can be nocticed on high quality monitors with 8 bits input signal.

QuickProfileLoader loads the LUT with the full 16 bit values from the VCGT tag and thus achieves optimum results, always.

The QuickProfileLoader installation program contains a 32 bit as well as a 64 bit version. Depending on which Windows version is installed, the 32 bit or the 64 bit version of QuickProfileLoder gets automatically installed. Besides installing the QuickProfileLoader Program, a task scheduler task is created, which reloads the LUT each time when reloading is required. The Windows color management setting "Use Windows display calibration" is deativated to make sure that the Windows Loader program does not run.

A help file is not qrequired beacuse there is no user action involved other than installing the program.
